Entry # 6 Gas price

Do you drive a vehicle that requires you to fill the tank with pristine gas just to drive? We spend upwards of 20+ dollars just to fill our tanks to drive on open rodes and fill the wind in our hair or down the street to arrive at our daily jobs. Has the rise in prices gotten to you?

When the coronavirus first hit last year, Americans nationwide settled down at home, and the demand for gasoline plunged, and prices dropped. Last April, the national average for all grades of gas fell below $2 a gallon for the first time in over four years. However now as the pandemic chapter in our lives is slowly closing and daily life is returning to normal the price of gas is rising fast and steadily surpassing $2.68. And it's going to get worse: Fuel prices are expected to see a big spike in the next few weeks, followed by more increases all the way to summer.

Due to the wreckage of economies during the pandemic the oil companies output of product fell as many Americans quarantined and rarely left the house. However, as we recover from our year long break in normal society oil companies are raising the price of their product as they come in more demand and to increase revenue due to the fall last year. However, jumping from about $1.999 a gallon to almost $3 has hit the American people hard as we are still trying to return to daily life. Personally, as a driver myself I find it a struggle to pay these outrageous prices just to be able to make it to work. We understand the need for revenue as our entire world work through money but is it fair to compensate for the economies lack by raising prices so high we struggle to buy?

Americans are talking about going on a day long strike, where no one will fill their tanks up and purchase gasoline causing the oil tycoons to lose billions of dollars. Is this really what its come to in Americans lives to have to strike against companies just so their livelihoods can be taken serious. I ask you what can we do as a whole to help keep our economy going without having to sacrifice ourselves to outrageous prices?
